Water safety and quality are fundamental to human development and well-being. Providing access to safe water is one of the most effective instruments in promoting health and reducing poverty. As the international authority on public health and water quality, who leads global efforts to prevent transmission of waterborne diseases. This is achieved by promoting health-based regulations to governments and working with partners to promote effective risk management practices to water suppliers, communities and households.

The guidelines for drinking-water quality (gdwq) promote the protection of public health by advocating for the development of locally relevant standards and regulations (health based targets), adoption of preventive risk management approaches covering catchment to consumer (water safety plans) and independent surveillance to ensure that water safety plans are being implemented and effective and that national standards are being met. The who guidelines for drinking-water quality recommend water safety plans (wsps) as the most effective means of consistently ensuring the safety and acceptability of a drinking- water supply.

The provision of safe and acceptable drinking-water of sufficient quantity frequently represents a challenge to small water supply systems in both developed and developing countries. Small supplies are more frequently associated with outbreaks of waterborne diseases than larger water supply systems. Typically small supplies are more vulnerable to breakdown and contamination than larger water supply systems, and often experience greater administrative, managerial or resourcing challenges. Investing in small water supplies will reduce waterborne disease outbreaks and overall costs in terms of the prevention of illness, death and associated health-care costs.

Household water treatment and safe storage (hwts) is an important public health intervention to improve the quality of drinking-water and reduce diarrhoeal disease, particularly among those who rely on water from unimproved sources, and in some cases,

Unsafe or unreliable piped water supplies. Arsenic is a major problem, especially for people residing in the river belts in eastern india. Arsenic laden water has many adverse health effects and affects over 900 million people in india. Safe drinking-water is an immediate priority in most emergencies, and hwts can be an effective emergency response intervention.

While the role of government in improving access to safe water and sanitation is extremely important, a number of steps undertaken at the individual level can also go a long way in preventing diseases through increasing awareness and encouraging hygienic behaviors.

Millions of indians across the country are not equipped with such facilities to test whether the water consumed and used by them is safe enough or not. The dual problems of not having access to water, or having access to unsafe water have resulted in safe and hygienic water, a basic amenity becoming a luxury. Access to safe drinking water has been a grave problem for india, especially in rural areas where lack of usable water has resulted in decades old sanitation and health problems.

Our intervention

Digital smart solutions has taken a comprehensive programmer to aware people about water-borne diseases and health benefits of safe drinking water. We are doing household survey in who format about drinking water sources, sanitation and cleanliness habits, water treatment methods and toilet facilities etc.

Our volunteers will go every household; create awareness about safe drinking water, water borne diseases, water treatment techniques, sanitation and cleanliness. They will demonstrate water pollutants in front of people by testing water through our water- testing kit. They will also demonstrate affordable filters to make safe and clean water. Our mini water purifier is very much affordable, treats water through magnetic path contact cartridge (mpcc) designed for better contact with iodine, resin and magnets ensuring 100% bacteria-free magnetic water. The iodine resin used in our water purifier is a blend of iodine and activated carbon. It destroys bacteria; enhance the microbiocidal powder of iodine thus resulting in rapid disinfection.

The high power magnet in the cartridge comes in contact with water instantly, thus the water after filtration improves the digestive system, reduces tiredness, inhibits cholesterol, deposition in blood vessels, gives relief to heart and increases its efficiency. Due to being diuretic it is very effective in the problems relating to kidney, ureter, urinary bladder etc. It is also very useful in asthma, bronchitis, cough, fever etc. After the covid 19 pandemic, it is very much necessary to maintain sanitation and purified safe drinking water for health reasons.

The high power water purifier can only be provided to bpl families and other very poor families at a specially discounted half the mrp. The volunteer in the field survey will decide the very poor criteria on the field. Bpl cardholders will have to show their

bpl cards. The

Volunteer will make a hard/soft photocopy of bpl card and adhaar card for very poor families and attach this to the survey form. Alongwith the water purifier we shall provide 2(two) extra candles free of cost so that the family can avail safe drinking water whole of the year. After one year, the family can avail a new set water purifier at the same cost from us.

The key is to look at securing drinking water and the role communities play in doing so. Digital smart solutions under the guidelines of hwts network is working to promote locally owned and managed drinking water security plans which are simple and can be used, monitored, and managed by people and local governments. We are working to provide safe drinking water to people as per who guidelines. This survey will help us in identifying problem areas and access local needs and resources

We support the government of india’s flagship programmes, which include the swachh bharat mission, the national rural drinking water programme (nrdwp), wash in schools (including preschools called ‘anganwadis’), wash in health facilities, and district-wide wash interventions supporting planning and implementation and incorporating behaviour change into state and national guidelines.

Project methodology:

survey will be conducted in village level in gram panchayats and ward level in urban bodies to access data about drinking water and sanitation as per who guidelines. Awareness programme will also be conducted on wash (water, sanitation and hygiene) under the guidelines of who-unicef and govt. Of india.

Work module:

to create awareness about water-borne diseases and sanitation; collect the survey data, generate mis report, promote water purifier for water safety and promote sanitary materials for public hygiene. Surveyors/investigators will reach every household and collect data as per the who prescribed survey form.

Duration: – 1 year

Training: – training will be given to surveyors by implementing agency about how to collect data, improvise drinking water quality and sanitation, water-testing, create awareness among the people about water-borne diseases and adoption of low-cost safety measures to make unsafe drinking water free from germs, chlorine, chloramines, lead, chromium 6, fluoride, and other contaminations.

Work load: – maximum 50 data collection in a day per surveyor/cluster coordinator.

Technical requirement

  • Manpower must be literate or educated to be able to aware people of the harm of unsafe drinking water and sanitation.
  • Each investigator should have an android based smartphone to take a photo of the household drinking water sources.

Payout for the project

  • Invoice should be created from your end after completion of 30days (sunday not included)
  • Billing invoice will be generated on 30 days working cycle subject to satisfactory completion of survey with 100% target achievement.

Quality check

  • Survey will not be conducted in government holidays / sunday.
  • Quality check shall be done by authority randomly.
  • Minor children, non-indian origins will not be involved in survey.
  • As per govt guidelines, citizens’ data will be kept as most confidential, any violation of confidentiality will be dealt with as per law.
